Pittsburgh Food Tour-PART 2
We waited for Grayson to return from college for holiday break before heading back to Pittsburgh to do some more exploring. We took him to a couple of our favorite places from the first tour and discovered a few new places together!

You might think it’s strange that we would go to Pittsburgh and make a point to visit a grocery store, but my sisters and I have been known to go to Whole Foods for dinner, so…
When you live in Central PA with very few options, Whole Foods and the East End Food Co-op are a big treat. This place is a gem hidden off the beaten path. The produce is exceptional, there is a kombucha bar, and they have things you can’t find anywhere. We gathered lots of treasures here to take home.
*And they have Leona’s ice cream sandwiches!

If you like authentic Southern BBQ in a super cool & relaxed atmosphere, a visit to Walter’s is a must. There is both indoor and outdoor seating here complete with a big *MASH* tent, green “grass” outdoor carpeting, space heaters, picnic tables, porch swings, and adirondak chairs peppered around. You feel like you’re at your neighbors house for a cookout, but you don’t have to bring anything and can leave whenever you want:-) Everything we had was outstanding. The boys liked it here a lot. They have a weekend brunch that sounds great too. We will definitely be back!

Millie’s ice cream was definitely good and they have unique flavors, but when you’ve grown up eating PSU Creamery and Myer Dairy ice cream, it’s a big cone to fill. Personally, I’d rather have a Leona’s ice cream sandwich. Since this visit, they have added a brioche ice cream sandwich that looks like it might give Leona’s a run for it’s money!
